St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s day is a holiday celebrated annually on seventeenth March. It is named after a saint St. Patrick. It was a Christian holiday followed by the Irish people. In this event people form a parade. The people in United States, Canada, Argentina, Australia and Great Britain also celebrate this day. People wear green on this day but the color associated with St. Patrick’s was blue.

After the seventeenth century the people began to celebrate the St. Patrick’s day by wearing shamrock and green ribbons. The Irish soldiers used to wear green on seventeenth march every year. The St. Patrick’s day has become an official holiday after 1903 in Ireland. A St. Patrick’s festival was first celebrated on seventeenth March 1996. The St. Patrick’s day attracts over 5 million people every year. Last year the St. Patrick’s day attracted 6.5 million people.

St. Patrick’s day will be celebrated in many countries throughout the world on the seventeenth of March in 2010. A rugby cup is yearly held on the St. Patrick’s day by the Ulster Schools Cup. Many celebrations are made for the event. In America the people paint the parade route in green. The Indianapolis dyes their river green on every St. Patrick’s day. St. Patrick was the saint in Ireland. He died in 461 A.D. The St. Patrick’s day in America started in 1737. He worked in the Ireland to covert the people to christianity.ST.
