Stafon Johnson, the USC Trojans football team back runner, got severely injured and ended up with a neck surgery. He himself injured his neck during a weight lifting session when he failed to handle the weight and the bar fell on his neck. He is reported to be in critical but safe condition.
According to the reports during the practice session with his team mates and coach, he was lifting the weight and the bar slipped from his hands and dropped onto his neck. Injury caused the bleeding through his mouth and he was immediately transported to the hospital.
Apparently it wasn’t looking bad as no broken bones has been reported but the throat was seriously damaged. Doctors’ took immediate action and he has to undergo the emergency neck surgery immediately.
The Coach Chris Carlisle was literally shocked with this very unusual happening, he stated that he never heard any thing like that in his entire career. He commented that when the bar slips it usually hits the chest, I never had an experience of bar falling on throat straight way. He wished the best of health to his top player.
The accident happened with Stafon Johnson, injured the leading runner and may result in confidence lack in the team as well as they may feel little unsecured with the 2nd leading runner missing on the ground.
Stafon Johnson, be careful next time with the weight, as it can cause more injuries in the training room then the ground.
