The stem cell research is entering into a new era with the support of the Vatican, who has announced the funding of stem cell research for the purpose of research into intestinal diseases. The Intl. task force met at the National Health Institute of Italy and agreed upon doing a research on the adult stem cells for the purpose of finding a cure to the Intestinal diseases, and the same day Vatican annunciated the funding of the stem cell research project within Rome.
Though, a totally new field of research, the stem cell research is to be done for the therapeutic use. Vatican is supporting the cause because the stem cell research this time round does not count in the embryonic stem cells for the research,
According to the Doctors within the meeting, the current project of Intestinal stem cell research has actually got a huge potential, but the clinical treatment will not be available for along time to come as they are still entering into the research field and the final product for the cure is a long time away.
