The contest for Miss Universe Australia become controversial on Thursday as “Stephanie Naumoska” walked on the stage, the doctors and dieticians complained that she is way to”skin and bones” and dangerously emaciated.
Stephanie Naumoska is a Sydney model she is 19, and she is one of the 32 competitors from more than 7,000 applicants to make the dazzling final at an occasion endorsed “healthy, proportioned, bodies”.
Stephanie is 5 ft 11 inches tall with 49 Kg weight, is well below the official 18 benchmark for undernourishment said by Health professionals. Talking to the local newspaper dietician “Melanie McGrice” said “She would be categorized as underweight and I would certainly want to be doing an assessment of her diet to make sure she doesn’t have some type of eating disorder”. She also said “She needs blood tests, diet analysis and an overall assessment”.
“Deborah Miller” the pageant director for the event said “They have long, lithe bodies and small bones. It is their body type, just like Asian girls tend to be small”.
“Rosanna Capolingua” a known Australian Medical Association president, said “the contest should impose a minimum BMI cut-off of 20″. He then added “The most unhealthy part about it, though, is the image it is showing other young women who may view this as normal, when clearly it s not”. Rosanna Capolingua organization symbolizes Australian doctors.
Stephanie declined to speak with media, in August the Bahamas will be serving as the final destination where finals will be held for Miss Universe.
