
Stephen Damman was just 2-years-old when he disappeared outside of a Long Island, New York bakery and it has been over 50 years since. Now a Michigan man has came forwards calming to be that 2-year-old boy Stephen Damman.
In 1955 on the Halloween day, Stephen’s mother Marilyn Damman left her 2-years-old son and 7-mohths-old daughter Pamela outside a Long Island, New York bakery in a baby carriage before entering in because it was common in those days to lineup the children outside the supermarket without any fears.
Nassau County Police, Lt. Kevin Smith said that it was not unusual for mothers to leave their young ones outside while going in a grocery store, supermarket or in a bakery.
Marlin Damman did find the stroller around the corner after 10, 15 minutes, her daughter was still in the baby carriage but the 2-year-old boy Stephen Damman was gone. During the 28 hours search, over 2,000 people participated but Stephen was no were to be found. Assistant chief inspector Leslie W. Pearsall called off the search after 28 hours, he decided to leave the case up to police detectives.
The family Marilyn and Jerry Damman made a public appeal to the abductor highlighting Stephen’s anemia and his requirements for the medication but in vain.
Authorities are waiting for the results of DNA tests to conclude if the Michigan man who asserts to be the missing boy is actually Stephen Damman.
