Boxing legend “Sugar Ray Leonard” is going to New Zealand to help in promoting the battle between David Tua and Kiwi heavyweights Shane Cameron. 53 years old Sugar Ray Leonard will have a speaking engagement on 1st September in Auckland, New Zealand. Kiwi boxing aficionado “Sir Bob Jones” will also attend the engagement as well. Question and Answer session will also be arrange with Cameron and Tua because both lead into much predictable battle on 3rd October.
Sugar Ray Leonard was born on 17th of May, 1956. He is a retired American Professional Boxer. For the 1980s, Sugar Ray Leonard named as “Fighter of the Decade”. He is broadly considered to be a great boxer all time. Sugar Ray Leonard had won world titles at various weights. He has also engaged in competition with famous opponents for example Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez, Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns. Leonard was named so after singing legend “Ray Charles”. His wife “Juanita Wilkinson” gave him the nickname as “Sugar”.
When he was in his teen age, Sugar Ray Leonard had won the 1975 “Pan American Games Crown”, 2 “AAU Championships” and 3 “National Golden Gloves Titles”. After than he was able to get a spot on “1976 Olympic team” that include upcoming Heavyweight Champions “Michael Spinks” and his brother “Leon”. In his amateur career, Leonard lost just 5 battles. Recently, Sugar Ray Leonard has hosted “The Contender” (Television Reality Boxing series).
