98 minutes of pure horror, “Tales from the Hood” is 1995 horror movie with focus on African Americans. The plot is made up of four stories, each having its own set of horror producing moments. Film starts with three amateur drug dealers, in their search for drugs reach a funeral home. The owner of the place invites them to accompany him to the place where the drugs have been hidden. As the four people walk with him, he starts the stories of some people buried there.
First in the list is a tale of an activist fighting for the rights of black people. He is beaten to death by police officers. A Police officer afterwards becomes convinced that the victim has been wronged and invites the police officers involved in the incident at the grave of the murdered. Grave opens and a police officer who has urinated on the grave is grabbed by testicles by the spirit of the deceased person and he is pulled into the grave. All others involved in the incident are also killed.
Then there is the story of a boy who is haunted by the ghost of his grandfather. He appears in the school with injuries on his arms. His teacher goes to his home to check and there the ghost is killed. The third story concerns with a candidate of Governorship. He lives in a haunted house and fails to heed the advice of people about the presence that has haunted the mansion.
Then there is mass murderer. Government in its efforts to have a peek at the minds of serial killers appoints a scientist to change his criminal attitude.
The drug dealers are revealed to be the killers of the serial killer who was being treated by the scientist. The film ends with the drug dealers burning in fire / hell.
