Trollstigen which is also called as “the troll ladder” is considered as one of the astonishing wonders of the world. It is a mountain road in Rauma, Norway. Tourists from all over the world come to view and travel on this road. What is something special about the mountainous road is its 9% steepness and eleven hairpin bends which means as the road goes up it becomes narrower and takes eleven hairpin bends. Despite the fact the road has been widened but still vehicles more than 12 meters long are not allowed to travel.
When tourist reach the highest point, they are given a parking place to park their vehicles and have a panoramic “macro view” of the all the bends in a single glance. There is a gorgeous waterfall as well which adds to the beauty. The road is surrounded by a series of different mountains with strange names like ‘The King’ , ‘The Queen’, and the ‘Bishop’. The word “troll” has its own story which signifies a wild beast called “troll” who wanted to eat goats on these steep mountainous area and goats tactfully drove him to fall from the steep hill.
Whether the story is true or not but the steep hilly ladder with bizzare bends makes the tourists feel great. The road is dangerous to drive and tourists are frequently warned wherever dangerous turn comes by. Although dangerous road its self is an amazment for the tourists, reaching on the top and viewing the astonishing spectacle of hairpin bend with surrounded mountains and a waterfall amazes the visiter in a way that it is hard to discribe.
