A tree statue of a former footballer, weighing 1,000 – 2,000 pounds, has been stolen. Surely, it was a wacky day for the people in and around Ralph Wilson Stadium as the stadium administration found the statue missing from its location.
Buffalo Bill’s defeat against Cleveland Brown was not the only news awaited the Buffalo Bill’s fans. The same day a heinous act of theft was also done. The incident happened in Orchard Park, New York where a truck driver stole a tree statue of Thomas Thurman which was installed near the Ralph Wilson Stadium in the parking lot. The statue was last seen on Sunday when the game was ended. It was found missing on Monday when the stadium staff came to pick the statue to place it in Sahlen Sports Park. The staff found no trail of the thief. The Orchard Park police was reported about the incident in the Monday afternoon. The police started investigating but have stated that they are not able to find any clue about the thief yet.
The statue is carved from a tree and was unveiled in 2006. The statue was a tribute from the Buffalo Bills to its former running back Thurman Thomas. Thurman Thomas played for Buffalo Bills in National Football League. Thurman was a passionate and determined footballer who even made his name in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007 and College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
The statue was carved by an organization named Cravings For a Cause. The founder of the organization, Therese Forton Barnes, said that the statue was quite heavy and that it is not possible for a human to lift it and take it away without any machine help.
