Remember Thurston Moore form Sonic Youth? Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth once stocked up their Jazzmasters but the guitars didn’t sell well. The duo now came up with customized guitars with new changes in the new set of Jazzmasters. These Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore signature guitars are now available at Fender.com at a price of $1880.00. Given below is a brief contrast of the two guitars:
The two are quite similar in many aspects. The main common feature of the two guitars is their basic controls which are minimized – there is only one knob which controls the volume. The switch is also changed and can be moved to right and left only hence cutting the chances of accidental switches. The differences are mainly sonic based on the pickups. The Lee Ranaldo guitar has Tele deluxe pickup (Lee’s signature style) while Thurston Moore’s guitar has pickup sound with antiquity. Critics didn’t give pleasant expressions over Thurston Moore’s pickups and have declared Ranaldo’s Jazzmaster more versatile.

Moore and Ranaldo took guitar classes together and later formed a Sonic Youth. Lee Ranaldo served as the lead guitarist of the band while Thurston Moore is on the lead vocals. They are famous for their quirky style of bringing different guitar for each song in live concerts.
