One of the biggest challenges that one faces at a personal level when working with big and obviously successful names & entities such as Pixar is being able to live up to the legacy because these firms raise the bar higher and higher every single time they come out with something; making it almost impossible to surpass them.
But those are probably the best kind of work environments that tenured artists such as Tim Allen who have been a part of and seen so much in their professional lives thrive in; they want to come across something that actually comes across as a challenge for them rather than just another assignment or engagement. And, most definitely, Tim Allen got to feel that sense of responsibility and the sensitive nature of the assignment he was working on with Toy Story 3 because the first two episodes were such great hits that they have carved their own place in the minds of people and the viewers expect great things from anything or any person associated with the flick.
And, personally, I do not think that Toy Story 3 presents much of a challenge to Tim Allen with regards to lending the vocals because he already has more than enough experience with that part. What really is the challenge is being able to entice and engage the viewers with a storyline that does not come across as either too corny or too good to be true; the balance needs to be maintained all the time.
