As spring comes to the country and the days get lengthier the times have been changed on the clocks to make more use of the daylight hours. The time change spring 2010 has officially taken place as of two in the morning today on the fourteenth of March 2010. There may be those among you who have not changed their clocks to the new times and it would be sensible to move you watches, computers and mobile phones an hour ahead of what the time was before.
The new time change spring 2010 will be known as the Eastern Daylight Time which is abbreviated with the letters EDT as compared to the Eastern Standard Time or EST which is commonly used around America otherwise. The time change spring 2010 will last till the seventh of November this year when the time will return to its normal hours. The daylight savings time is a concept that was implemented as far back as the years of world war one and world war two when time was changed to save up on energy – electrical – so that wartime production could be enhanced and then in the year of 1966 the congress passed a bill that would regularize the changes in time every year.
The way that the time change works is that people wake up earlier and sleep earlier as well as the sun rises at the same time, lets say six o’ clock, but is measured at an time which is an hour later, lets say seven, so people can get to work in sunlight and use more of the daylight in lighting up their homes, offices or shops. In this way thousands of megawatts are saved every year.
