A police officer in plain clothes was on duty at Time Square near the famous ‘Marriott Marquis Hotel’. He was shot at by a scam artist inciting gun fire from the officer. Scam artist was killed at the spot whereas some bullets did minor damage to the glass windows of the nearby shops.
The incident happened when the police officer was on regular patrol, as the suspect was spotted he tried to escape from the scene. While running he turned back and shot at the officer chasing him. It was the return fire that killed the suspect. There were many tourist present at the site of shooting and describe the whole affair as dramatic.
The witnesses described seeing two men exchanging fire. The incident happened so unexpectedly that the people present couldn’t believe their eyes.
Time Square Shooting happened at one of the busiest area in the city, where famous theatres are situated. Some bullets shattered the glass windows.
The exact number of bullets fired by the suspect on the police officer is not clear. As the suspect got killed his pistol was recovered by police.
The police officers had to immediately cordon off the area as crowds gathered to watch the proceedings. Police was of the view that area would be cleared as the forensic examination is completed.
Police has assured the visitors and guests that the suspect was not some tourist and the area is now clear.
However the exact name of the suspect and his motives has not been made public, as yet.
