The idea to dress up, to adorn or to beautify couldn’t be put in a more voluptuous way by some people who prefer to use words which have very seldom been heard before. One of the judges on the show called “Dancing With The Stars” seemed to be at a loss for words when he used the word titivating to describe what he thought of one of the performers dance. Pamela Anderson was in the spot light, the woman who is known for having the figure of a sex goddess, when Len Goodman commented that she had been titivating.
I really don’t know when the word first came into use or when it was incorporated into the English vocabulary but as one would assume it to mean something of an explicit nature it is quite the opposite. The word titivating literally means to do up or to decorate though the beginning syllable of the word ‘tit’ has done its job in giving the word a very sensual feel though it might be used in the most drab of conversations like the way she managed the titivation of her otherwise sloppy self led the audience to believe that some real effort was made into the finessing of her garb.
Pamela, I’m sure, is not as daft as people assume her to be when she shows up in Baywatch with her jingling upper torso and to add to her credit she didn’t take offense from the comment which any other bimbo might have considered a verbal assault on her integrity.
