Toyota is ranked among the most popular and reliable brands over the world. However the recent recalls may reduce its popularity. The last recall was in November 2009 when the reason was that the gas pedals get stuck with floor mats resulting in uncontrolled acceleration causing accidents. The recent recall is again about the gas pedals but not related to floor mats. In some cases the “gas pedal mechanism” gets problematic like it becomes harder or doesn’t push, or returns slowly. That means the car will keep on accelerating even when the driver has moved his foot off the pedal. The problem occurs in humid environment or due to the moisture in the mornings. Toyota recall list 2010 comprises of the following models:

• Camry 2007-10
• Tundra 2007-10
• Sequoia 2008-10
• Corolla 2009-10
• Matrix 2009-10
• RAV4 2009-10
• Highlander 2010
Toyota recall list 2010 has raised the no of affected vehicles over 5 million. The company is working on possible solutions including the replacement of the notorious gas pedal. It is considering to make “brake override” for all models. Toyota and CTS (the pedal suppliers to Toyota) are working in collaboration to sort out the pedal issue. They will either replace the design or modify it effectively to ensure safety measures.
What if you buy a new car and it is dangerous to drive. If it is on Toyota recall list 2010 the company advises you to log on to their site call the helpline or the dealer.
