Tropical Storm Erika Projected Path

Tropical Storm Erika the fifth big storm of the hurricane season 2009 came to life on Tuesday, the very first day of September. Many of the Leeward Islands have been facing the issue of tropical storm watch. The season of Atlantic hurricane began on June 1 and will end on November 30.

A tropical storm Erika watch stands for the tropical storm conditions that are possible within next 36 hours, within the watch area. Forecast from the National Hurricane Center said the path of the storm seems uncertain and could depend on how strong the system becomes. The aircrafts seeking for hurricane, investigated the low pressure area, east of the Caribbean’s Leeward Islands revealed the circulation of a wide area on Tuesday and upgraded the tropical storm status.

The axis for the Tropical Storm Erica was positioned near 57.3 west and 17.2 north or 390 miles around the east of the Leeward Islands. Erika was winding in the early evening of Tuesday and currently it is motionless.

Maximum sustained winds of the tropical storm Erika are near 50 mph, but slow intensification is expected through Thursday. National Hurricane Center is taking Erika as a strong tropical storm, but not as strong as to be hurricane and according to forecast Erika will approach The Bahamas by this weekend and it is being reported Strong upper level wind shear will weaken Erika late this week and by the middle of the next week Erica will come close to the east coast, a change in weather is a possible thing anyway.

So far, 2009 has experienced one of the calmest starts in a decade to the hurricane season which, according to researchers, leads towards the development of an El Nino effect in the Pacific.
