Tyler Matzek 18-years-old student from Capistrano Valley High School, California, who was drafted in the first round by Rockies this year has prove to be the top ranked left-handed pitcher. Rockies have pulled of an additional shocker yesterday on Monday when they signed Tyler Matzek right before deadline at around 10:00 P.M. This 6’3”, 200 pounder, Tyler Matzek has been signed for a record $3.9 million deal according to associate press, however, the other terms of this deal have not yet been disclosed by Rockies.

Club vice President Bill Schmit said that they are thrilled that they have signed Tyler Matzek and he is now a part of Rockies team he said they are looking forward for a better future of their team.

Tyler Matzek’s fast ball can reach up to 94 MPH, whereas he has complete control over his curve ball and slider ball as well.

Jason Young, pitcher from Stanford was the highest paid player before Tyler Matzek, whose contract was for $2.75 million back in 2000, but now Matzek has become the highest player of the league with $3.9 million.

As a senior Tyler Matzek went for 13-1 and is preparing to go to University of Oregon, this 18-year-old is considered to be one of the top picks in this year and his team is happy to have him.
