According Central Weather Bureau TAIPEI, Taiwan, Typhoon Morakot was possible to enfold all of Taiwan in intense rain and sturdy winds on Friday and Saturday, although the rains by Typhoon Morakot will end recent fears of deficiency and water rationing of Taiwanese water reserves but there are worst fears than, it is predicted that Typhoon Morakot will cause mudslides in the hills and floods in low-lying areas.
Local government has announced public holiday for schools and offices in Taipei City and Keelung on Friday airlines have also canceled the domestic flight schedules fearing the worst, whereas other part were to decide on Thursday evening. The typhoon is gaining strength as it is moving west-northwest and is on the course of hitting northern Taiwan, while its radius of 250 kilometers was expected to take in all of Taiwan; moreover, they said that eye of Typhoon Morakot has been located at 480 KM east southeast of Ilan and moving in a westly direction while slowing down from 22 KM to 16 Km, with winds speeding over 150KM.
Ilan County have not only closed the Taiping Mountain area for visitors and tourists they have suspended numerous activities including International rain Festival and is expected to bear the brutal forces of Typhoon Morakot on Friday, on the other hand, Nantou County directed visitor and tourists not to trek into the mountains or walk along rivers side.
