As the storm season progresses, there seems to be no relief from calamities in Asia. Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Philippines have hardly counted the dead in the last storm that has resulted in widespread damage that a new and more powerful storm is predicted to hit Philippines. The plans are underway to arrange evacuation of millions of people and to provide temporary shelters.
The storm is officially named as Parma and is expected to result in winds reaching 130 mph (210 kph). The storm may not bring much heavier rains but the winds are sure to cause widespread chaos. The trouble with typhoon Parma is that it is expected to be a “Super Typhoon”. The term implies that the storm would bring heavy and steady winds increasing to the speed of 124 mph.
Though the evacuation has not been started as yet, the chief weather forecaster has requested the people to pray. There has been a series of bolts for blue. Two major quakes and then rain and typhoon, conditions are becoming steadily worse for the residents. The rescuers are looking through the debris to find survivors or to clear the blocked roads and communication systems. The flooding has completely washed rice paddies – main cash crop and the way to earn livelihood for millions in the area.
Residents are not sure how to cope with Typhoon Parma. Yes, it can change it’s route but if it hits it would create disaster as it is gaining more strength on its way to Philippines.
