Urban legend is a 1998 horror / thriller, two other sequels followed one in 2000 and another in 2005. Though the film was not received very well by critics it went on to accumulate huge profits.
The film is about a serial killer on loose. As the film opens a young girl named Michelle is seen getting her car refilled at a gas station. She is attacked by a man at the station but she manages to get away only to be killed in her car with an axe.
Natalie is one of the main characters in the plot. She and the Michelle who has been killed were friends. As a matter of fact one night they played a prank on a man and although they did not intend to kill him, he got killed in an accident. Michelle’s death is very much in Natalie’s mind. A class fellow Damon offers his help but in his heart he wants to have sex with Natalie. The unknown killer hangs Damon with a tree and ties the rope to Natalie’s car. As Natalie tries to speed away Damon’s corpse strikes her car with full force. Natalie runs away screaming loudly. As if that was not enough for Natalie her roommate is killed in her bed. And again a girl Sasha is killed while Natalie has been invited on the party. Natalie has a friend named Paul and Paul thinks that all the killings are being undertaken by a university professor.
In the end it is revealed that the serial killer is a campus Girl Brenda who is jealous of Natalie. Natalie is also killed in an accident. Before the film closes Brenda is seen quite hale and hearty and offers the girls to tell them the true story behind the killings.
