The much anticipated winner of the U.S. Open women’s semi-final Serena Williams blew her chances to appear in the final after losing the match on penalty points. Serena Williams, who have won US Open Championship three times, was expected to appear in this year’s final too but something just went wrong during the match and the match was won by a rather confused Kim Clijsters. Serena Williams lost the match on penalty points due to her second code violation. Serena was given code violation twice in the match and hence it resulted in point deduction making Kim the winner of the semi-final.
Apparently, Serena just lost her temper when the lineswoman called her second time for a foot fault upon her serve to Kim. Serena, who was a bit more upset during the entire duration of the match, pointed her racquet towards the lineswoman and remarked at her. The lineswoman immediately called the umpire and after a mutual decision the umpire gave Serena a second code of violation and hence point penalty. Earlier in the match, Serena was given the first code of violation when she smashed her racquet on the ground after the first set. After the first set, Serena was called twice by the lines woman on her foot fault. The second call was a little too harsh for Serena and hence she remarked angrily at her.
Serena was defending her title in this match. Kim Clijsters will now face Carolina of Denmark in the final of US Open.
