As was announced by US Mint in September 2009, Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set go on sale today. The set is much awaited by coin collectors throughout the world; however US Mint has limited the number of sets to 50,000 and one set per household. The set is being offered on E-Bay at much bigger price tag by the sellers to make as much money out of the opportunity as possible. US Mints decision has created a buzz globally.
The set itself is cased in an artificial leather wallet and consists of Four 2009-S Lincoln Proof Copper Cents, A Replica of Lincoln’s handwriting, and a certificate to authenticate that the coins are genuine. It’s the last time that US Mint has offered 2009-S Lincoln Proof Copper for sale and coin lovers would not have another chance to get hold of the historical coins. The special property of the coins is that the metal used is exactly the same as that 1909 Lincoln penny material. The coins are cast from an amalgam of copper tin and zinc. The metallic composition makes these coins different from the varieties already in the market.
The coins are prices at $55.95 and can be ordered directly from the usmint.gov website. This seems a golden opportunity for the buyers outside America. The time for which the set remains available has not been specified.
US Mint in the recent days had to revise the prices of gold coins many times because of the ups and downs (mostly ups) in the gold prices.
