Venezuela was expunged by a 5.6 magnitude Earthquake on Friday, right about the heels of the earthquake at Haiti which caused 1000′s of people to die and still many are feared. According to the National Public Radio, the Venezuela Earthquake hit about a coastal town of Carupano, which is some eight hundred miles from Port-au-Prince. Some half a mile below and ten miles from Port-au-Prince, the epicenter of Haiti Earthquake lied, which caused 1000′s of victims & did an extensive damage to the area.
The US Geological Survey said the Venezuela Earthquake hit seven point three miles under the ground in the area of Sucre, Venezuela.
It also reckons that epicentre of the Venezuela earthquake was around two hundred and thirty five miles eastward of Caracas. Venezuela lies down on the very same Caribbean tectonic plot as the Haiti. The Venezuela Earthquake has been reported to cause power failure & people scared, yet there were no damages or deaths owing to the quake.
A four point zero magnitude earthquake hit near the Oklahoma City on Friday morning. The epicentre was Jones City, which is some seventeen miles from the Oklahoma City. Earthquakes are very much rare in the Oklahoma but it was actually the 3rd one to knock the region in one week. According to Geologist, any quake below five on the Richter scale is counted a little quake & will do small harm.
The last big Venezuela Earthquake, before the Friday quake, was back in September 2008; it was 6.2 magnitude quake.
