Veronica Guerin is a film based upon true events of history. The movie was made in 2003 directed by Joel Schmacher. The movie focuses on the Irish journalist, Veronica Guerin, who probed the drug mafia in Dublin. They, in retaliation, murdered her.
The movie is not the first inspiration from the heroic life of Veronica Guerin and the movie “When the Sky Falls” already had been made on this very topic. But in that movie, the real names were changed and the movie had a little bit fictional touch. Veronica Guerin was a very brave crime reporter of a well known newspaper. She became highly disturbed when she felt that the menace of drugs had started to ruin labor class as well as innocent children. She decided to endanger her life with a high-spirited objective of exposing the drug dealers.
Guerin starts her venture by interviewing minor addicts and from them she gets some information about the suppliers. This clue leads to John Traynor who had a lot of information about the main drug traders in the country. He agreed to give her information about the underworld but he misguides her in order to save him and wards her off from the notorious drug trader John Gilligan. He rather misdirects her towards another person who was actually not involved in the trade. As soon as she got nearer to expose the drug lord, her family is attacked. Her home received bullets which broke the window injuring her. Her son fights the battle of life when a bullet hits him as well. Her family begged her to stop but she went on with her mission.
She reaches at the residence of the Gillian who beats her brutally. But she did not give up her objective and continued her efforts to expose Gillian. One day when she was driving on the road and stopped at a traffic signal, two men on the motor-bike came closer to her and shot her six times. She died on the spot. She sacrificed her life to shake the media and government which arrested Gillian and his companion and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
