Virna Lisi was born in 1937 and made her debut as a film actress when she was in her teen age. Her talent was identified by two producers when she was in Paris. Her first movie was La Corda D’acciaio beginning she did musical movies and her romantic and charming appearance made her popular in musical movies and, consequently she was being labeled as sex-symbol rather than the one with a potential for sophisticated and complex characters.
The Italian film actress went on with the impression for which she was aspired but started doing more complex roles e.g. in La Donna Del Giorno (1956), Eva (1962). Virna Lisi’s experimentation continued and she did theater as well as comedy movies. In 60s she took interest in TV dramas as well due to the fact that TV drama was very popular in Italy. Last but not the least; she worked in ads for the promotion of a tooth-paste brand. As far as her career in Hollywood is concerned, she was picked by many producers who were finding a new “Marilin Monroe”.
Virna Lisi stunned the American audience with her striking performances in comedy movies e.g. How to Murder You Wife, Assault on a Queen. She received enormous attention by public when her photo showing her doing shave of her face was published in a magazine. She won awards at Cannes and Cesar. She is not only remembered for her beauty and charms but as the highly diverse and excellent actress.
