Virtusphere is any cyber kid’s dream come true. As if all the video games, chat rooms and plethora of online applications was not enough to compel one to live a full fledge “Matrix” life, Virtusphere has come along. Virtusphere is a device that simulates any environment fed into its software and user can have near real life experience of the environment using the system. Hardware of the system consists of a “giant football” or sphere that has a depth of 10 feet. The football is placed on a special platform that allows it rotate freely that is with minimal friction. The user wears a head set, exactly of the shape of the head sets that comes along with many video games. The head set simulates the virtual environment. The user can run in any direction – as the football would be rotating while being on a platform. This simulation would give users a feel as if all this is happening in reality.
It seems that the device – Virtusphere has some real advantages and applications. For most of people like me, who think exercising is boring the system provides way to get rid of the boredom and exercise as much as body requires. Virtuspheres are very helpful in military applications; especially for the pilots who had to memorize every landmark while embarking on some important mission. Virtusperes can be fed with the data and it would mimic the reality enabling fighter pilots to get used to the landmarks. Video gaming can take a whole new shape with this device.
