Different kinds of toys are available in the markets today. The toys are produced for all age groups. Walter Frederick Morrison is the man who created our most common picnic toy Frisbee. The man was born ninety years ago in United States of America.
A sports complex is named after him. He died this week in his home town. He stated that the idea came into his mind while he was playing with his love on the beach. He was throwing disc like can lid towards her. Then he tried the same thing with cake pans and he found that they can be used for this purpose.
He really enjoyed playing with them. He thought that other people shall also be delighted to play with cake pans. So Walter Frederick Morrison started selling cake pans at picnic spots. Later on he joined the United States air force. While he was flying his jet in Italy he was hit by anti aircraft weapon and ejected from the plane, and was confined for more than forty five days.
Then after he was set free he started to produce plastic made discs which he decided to sell on commercial basis. He initially called them as flying saucers, as there was a rumor of unidentified flying object’s among the people at that time. After some time he sold the rights of the model to a toy making company. The company named it as Frisbee, and started to manufacture the toy in large quantity. Since then millions of Frisbee’s have been sold. Walter Frederick Morrison has a great contribution in the fun that we have while playing with Frisbee’s.
