The man who stole the car of the former WCCO anchor was charged with assault and theft. Former WCCO anchor Jeanette was involved indirectly in an incident rather accident that happened on Friday. She was planning for a party with her boyfriend, but her boyfriend stuck in an incident when his car was driven away by a stranger later on identified as Steve Dion Kellum.
The criminal complaint revealed that a man identified by the initials DA parked his car on Ivy Lane near Lake Calhoun this Friday, a man rushed to his vehicle and took it away. Police was informed after 20 minutes of the incident from Jones restaurant about a man who ordered alcoholic drinks and refused to pay off and drove away the car identical to the stolen BMW 750 Blacky. They also told that one of the employees from restaurant tried to stop but couldn’t.
Later on Police traced the car through GPS system, followed and reached the car, when one of the officers tried to stop him, the man begin to drive the car towards the officer, in the mean time police opened their fire on the suspect and eventually he was severely injured.
He was reported in serious condition at hospital, he was charged with theft and assault. He wasn’t involved in such kind of offence for the first time. The records suggested that he was involved in same kind of attempt of theft and robbery back in 1992.
The investigation is still pending at the police department end because few of the officers involved are on their annual leaves.
