The Google is celebrating the birthday of the great legendary Elvis Crisler, the creator of Popeye cartoon series. Elvis Crisler Seger was born on 8th December 1894 and died in 1934 when he was 43 year old.
Elvis Crisler Seger died young due to the liver disease. He battled with the disease for some time but finally passed away. The Popeye show was taken over by his assistant Bud Sagendorf and he continued the comic cartoon show for several years.
The Popeye was originally started in 1919 as Thimble Theater for NY Journal. The first characters were Horace Hamgravy and Olive Oyl, it continued for ten years then Popeye was introduced. Popeye, the Sailor was popular for its funny characters and comedy. After the successful launching of Popeye, Segan later on launched more characters like Brutus, Wimpy.
8th December 2009, the Google logo turned into a powerful Popeye with color full letters, this is the way Google pay tribute to the great American Cartoonist.
Today, once again Google step up to pay the tribute to the creator of a great character with unique and different features like getting power up through spinach.
Well, heads off to Google, for honoring great legends in their own different way.
