Winthrop University is an American Public institute. It was establish in 1886.The university was once know n as Winthrop college. It is located in South Carolina. The college started with twenty-one students. It shifted its campus to Rock Hill later in 1895.It was also called the Winthrop training school before. The university has around two hundred and seventy members. The University has different department for arts, science, Business, Visual Arts, and Music.
They also have Post-graduate programs such as the Master of Liberal Arts, Business, Social Work and psychology. They also provide boarding facilities for the students on campus. They also provide financial aid to approximately four thousand students. They University also organize some plays, Technology lectures, Concerts etc. The Winthrop University is also a member of the Athletics Association. They also organize inter college tournaments of soccer, tennis, volleyball and many other indoor and outdoor games every year.
The Winthrop University caught fire in the afternoon. The reason of the fire wasn’t known and caused no injuries. The new campus building which was opened in 2007 caught fire. The roof and the buildings interior was damaged A firefighter of the Rock hill fire department was injured at the fire scene. Volunteered firefighters also helped the rock hill fire department to extinguish the blazing fire. The firefighter was unaware of any person inside the building when the fire struck. The estimate of the damage will be calculated after the investigation team figures out the cause of fire in the building. The university won’t be having any problems due to the building being insured.
