WMATA, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is facing lot of problems in communication systems. The reason for the problem in WMATA’s communication channels is reported to be a power failure. A sudden breakdown in the power supply caused the computer data to collapse as it fails to regain the data or connect to the communication channels after power failure.
As a result of power supply failure the email system and other channels like call centers of Customer services division for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority was intermittent rather disrupted and they haven’t have the arrangements as backup and even they don’t have any other source of transport system to inform the customers and prospects about the potential delays and other issues.
Well, the Spokeswoman of the WMATA, Lisa Farbstein has made the things very clear by explaining that the farebix system has been affected by the problem and it’s out of order so the passengers are allowed to travel free as long as the problem gets fixed. The CSD system of providing information on phone has also been down. She further told that the Debit cards would also not be working in the Fare card machines, but the credit card can be used with the maximum limit up to $20. The problem doesn’t over yet, the ticket reservation system for disabled passengers isn’t working and the control room has not been able to contact with the buses and can’t provide them the information or guide them to the destination.
The Spokeswoman provided all the information on her cell phone as all the other communication channels are down in her office as well. She said the technicians are doing hard to fix the problem but she was unable to have the idea about the fixation time that how much long it would take to settle the things.
