“Would you please pass the jelly?” is a famous line from a funny 80s ad of ‘Polaner All fruit Jelly’. As the ad starts an old fashioned dinner is underway. An elite woman asks for the all fruit and bearer serves her “All Fruit jelly bottle”. Then is the turn of a high class gentleman, he asks for the same All Fruit in an elitist way and receives an appreciative smile from a lady sitting at the other end of the table who serves him with the bottle of jelly. Now is the turn for this southern guy, he points towards the bottle of All Fruit and says “Would you please pass the jelly.”
The old lady is fainted, bearer drops the bottles down. The elitist gentleman grimaces. And most of all a little girl starts giggling. The bearer is seen fanning the old lady and then come the lines that Polaner All fruit is made of pure fruit and no sugar is added and “don’t dare it call a jelly”.
In 90′s the second version of “would you please pass the jelly” ad was made. The words “ten Years Later….” are written on the screen. And again the party in underway. The same southern guy asks would you please pass……and then stops in the middle of the sentences, Everyone’s eyes are glued on him. But he says Polaner All Fruit” and everyone heaves a sigh of relief. Old woman places her hand on her chest as if thanking that he hasn’t said the jelly again.
