YMCA is a campaign to practice the Christian beliefs and principles. The very term of YMCA actually stands for the famous Young Men’s Christian Assoc. It was founded on six June in 1844 in England. George William was the person behind the establishment of this movement. Many movements were formed before the YMCA such as the Glasgow Young Men’s Society and Basel association. George Williams the founder of the movement established YMCA to improve the spiritual condition of people involved in sinful actions.
It established associations in countries such as Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, France, United States, Australia, Canada and United Kingdom. The first Young Men’s Christian Association meeting g was held in Paris in 1855.They presented the policy of equal gender and to avoid the discrimination of gender in 1880.In 1900 the association spread all over Europe and began working their missionary work. They also spread their vast network in Jerusalem in 1928.
The association was based on 3 principles which included healthy body, mind and soul. The association created many colleges and universities for the preaching of their religion. The established the Springfield college which can be seen in many countries of the world today. The famous game basketball was an invention of James who was a student at the Springfield College. Another member of the Association William George invented the game Volleyball. The association has established an image of a social welfare association and provides facilities such as homes for the homeless, sports, employment and child care. In the spring of 2010 the Young Men’s Christian Association is offering a camp which will include field trips and many activities.
